The department of manuscripts of the Bavarian National Library is one of the largest „treasure chambers“ of medieval and modern, occidental and oriental manuscripts. The reference library is an equipment, which was built up through generations with extrem carefullness. The library contains of all relevant editions from all over the world.
the whole stock of more than 25,000 volumes is one the largest special libraries of the science of manuscripts. With a specifically evolved system of catalogisation the stock was opened up for all those interested into this subject.
