It details all medicines on the UK market, with special reference to their uses, cautions, contra-indications, side-effects, dosage and relative costs. The British National Formulary (BNF) reflects current best practice as well as legal and professional guidelines relating to the use of medicines. It is intended for use by prescribers in the NHS as well as by pharmacists, nurses and other health-care professionals. Published every six months in March and September, the BNF is produced jointly by the British Medical Association and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain under the authority of the Joint Formulary Committee.
An annual subscription to the eBNF includes two issues of the database together with the eBNF Browser software.
