Flore d’Afrique centrale – Bryophyta
Introduction – Division A, Anthocerotophyta
herausgegeben von Marc SosefThis publication represents the start of a new series of Flore d’Afrique centrale, dedicated to the Bryophytes occurring in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. It provides a brief introduction on the charac- teristics and classification of Bryophytes, a key to the three Divisions (mosses, liverworts, hornworts), as well as the detailed treatment of the hornworts (An- thocerotopsida). Within the region dealt with by this Flora, hornworts include ten species in three genera: Anthoceros, Notothylas and Phaeoceros. Keys and morphological descriptions are provided for the families, genera and species, with emphasis on characters used for their recognition, as well as data on distri- bution, habitat, representative specimens and additional literature. Anthoceros lamellatus is a new record for Africa and the occurrence of A. bharadwajii in Africa is confirmed.
