Faserstofftabelle Hochleistungspolymere / Fibre-Table High Performance Polymers
von Gisa Wortberg und weiterenIn contrast to conventional polymers, high performance polymers offer high toughness which means performance under extreme outer conditions. In the last years, the necessity of high performance polymers has increased enormously due to the requirements on modern plastics. Several fields of application have developed in which high performance polymers especially contribute. But also the development of fibre fabrication techniques has not ended for a long time yet. One still existing challenge is the high operating temperature which is needed for spinning a fibre out of the polymer melt. Several companies exist which offer fibres commercially with increasing demand.
In the fibre table, the state of the art and the properties of several high performance polymers will be presented. Also, an outlook related to the using as fibre will be given. Especially, polyaryletherketones, polyimides, polyarylsulfones and polyphenylene sulfide will be considered. The focus lies on polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyetherketone, polyimide, polyamide-imide (PAI), polyetherimide (PEI), Polysulfone (PSU) and polyether sulfone (PSU).
The table is structured into an introducing definition and terminology chapter, a historical overview, a chapter about synthesis and properties of the polymers and the resulting applications. Also, a summary of the present known fibre products is given.
