Cities and Priests

This volume brings together historical, archaeological and religious studies approaches to offer a fresh survey of current trends in the analysis of the social and political role of priests and priestesses of civic cults from the Hellenistic period into Imperial times. The presentation and representation of priesthoods and individual priests are discussed inter alia through examples from Priene, Ephesos, Smyrna, Stratonikeia, Lindos, and Kos.
