Coaching serves to support people in their working environment. The concept of life coaching assumes that the questions people have stemming from their worklife can only be acceptably answered if they see the problems not solely as work relevant but as part of their overall life situation. This is done, on the one hand, horizontally: The themes are illuminated in the context of all aspects of life and one´s biography. And they can be attacked, on the other hand, vertically: by treating the deeper dimensions of existential matters such as meaning of life, happiness and responsibility. Extending one´s reach lets further levels as well as further resources become visible, which changes the perspective of the theme introduced into coaching and leads to new interpretations and evaluations. Alternative paths and potentials suddenly appear. In the first part of this book the basic insights emerging from the volume “Life Coaching” (2008) are reviewed and extended. The next two parts look over the shoulder of well-known coaches and offer many concrete case examples from their practice including the themes discussed there and the actions taken. Coaches, supervisors, counsellors, psychotherapists, trainers und teachers of continuing education will receive through this volume an abundance of stimuli for practicing their own life coaching.
