How can we imagine and interpret the death of Jesus on the cross? This volume contains eight different interpretations from well-known theologians worked into sermons and a possible church service. Those of us who are searching for a gentle God are sometimes confronted with a strange, dark God. That was always the case. Even Paul had the experience that the mention of the cross was felt by some to be pure nuisance and folly.
