Smenkhkare
The enigmatic Pharaoh of Akhet-Aton
von Michael E. Habicht und Marie Elisabeth Habicht, herausgegeben von Marie Elisabeth HabichtThis book presents the latest research findings and materials on the enigmatic figure of the late Amarna period: Smenkhkare. It is still disputed today whether Smenkhkare was a young man at Akhenaton ‘s side or Queen Nefertiti, who succeeded her husband with this fictitious identity as a male pharaoh. The identification of the mummy from tomb KV 55 is a crucial piece of the puzzle of this Egyptological enigma. In 2015, a new theory was put forward by C. N. Reeves, according to which Nefertiti alias Smenkhkare is to be found in undiscovered chambers in Tutankhamun ‘s tomb.
