Study on asymmetric epoxidation of cyclohexadiene derivatives using chiral ketone catalysts derived from simple sugars
von Sony AmrendraAsymmetric epoxidation is one of the widely used methods to introduce tetrahedral stereocentres into organic compounds. The main objective of this research work was to synthesize chiral ketones starting from simple sugars such as D-glucose, D-xylose, D-glucosamine, D-fructose, etc., and check the activity and selectivity of these catalyst towards the asymmetric epoxidations of fuctionalised cyclohexadiene derivatives. Hence, several chiral ketones derived from simple sugars were synthesised and tested for their catalytic properties towards asymmetric epoxidations.
