Trends in Sub-Saharan Africa

summer school held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2022. The
contributions are on the subject of teaching of transformations
and transformations of teaching, which refer to translations
of languages, transformation of one’s own cultural framework
into one that opens up for the mindsets, collective memories,
value and belief systems etc. of the Other, and digitalization
and decolonization of Higher Education. The book commences
with a synopsis and reflection of the discussions held at the
summer school. The first group of essays covers presentations
on efforts towards digitalization of Higher Education and
decolonization of foreign language education in Sub-Saharan
Africa. The second part presents contributions on languages
and translation, reflecting on the role of African languages in
a Euro-lingua-centric world, the role of German as Foreign
Language in an African context and the use of translation in
bridging the gap between unfamiliar languages and cultures.
The third part covers contributions on the cultural practices of
memorization and memory transforming literary works.
