Knowledge Design of Digital Subcultural Heritage
Heuristics from Curating Creativity, Aesthetics and Culture of the Demoscene
von Canan HastikThe amount of born-digital cultural data is growing. By their very nature, this data is inherently incomplete, uncertain, complex, distributed in different resources, and varying in degree and depth of structure. In rare cases, this data archives represent an “open world” but are intend to be ‘FAIR’ (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).
This thesis uses Cultural Analytics and Semantic Web to develop the Demoscene, an intangible digital cultural heritage, as a source of knowledge for the digital humanities. This contains a concept for the curation of distributed Web-based collections and supports the documentation, modelling and mediation of born-digital cultural assets. As a result of this work, the DEMOAGE domain ontology is published and a scene-specific corpus with authentic digital artefacts is made available.
