The Development of Methodism in Barbados 1823-1883
von Noel Titus, Rev.Like other plantation societies in the West Indies, Barbadian society was full of those prejudices that were characteristic of the times. Not least of the features of that society was church establishment with its implied - but not enforced - uniformity. The end of slavery did not put an end to these prejudices. It was in such an atmosphere that Methodists sought to establish themselves in this island. This book is an attempt to analyse their experience.
