Subhuticandra's Kavikamadhenu on Amarakosa 1.4.8cd–2.2.5ab

Together with Si tu Pan chen's Tibetan translation

von Lata Mahesh Deokar

The Kavikāmadhenu is the longest and perhaps the most important commentary on the Amarakośa . It was composed by the Buddhist monk-scholar Subhūticandra in the 12th century and includes quotations from about 250 Sanskrit texts. The work is almost entirely preserved in a Tibetan translation by Si tu Paṇ chen dating from the 18th century, while so far only nineteen percent of the original Sanskrit text are available in the few manuscripts accessible. The present publication contains the first critical edition of the Sanskrit text on Amarakośa 1.4.8cd to 2.2.5ab on the basis of a fragmentary Indian manuscript and the Tibetan translation.
