Zunächst ging es dabei um Rettungsgrabungen in Süd- und Westböhmen, um den Stand der Mittelalter- und Neuzeitarchäologie in Niederbayern und der Oberpfalz. Es folgen Beiträge zu den städtischen Siedlungen von Tábor, Sezimovo Ústí, Kynšperk nad Ohri, Landshut, Amberg, Deggendorf und Regensburg. Mit herrschaftlichen Sitzen befassen sich Abschnitte zum kurfürstlichen Schloß in Amberg, zu Burgen in West- und Südböhmen und zum Wohnturm von Loifling. Ekklesiastische Fundplätze sind in Abhandlungen über die Kirchenburg Neukirchen und das Prämonstratenserkloster Windberg vertreten. Um ländliche Siedlungen geht es in Vorträgen zu Vodnany und Pilsting. Weitere Artikel sind Geländeforschungen am Goldenen Steig, Handmühlen zum Mahlen von Golderz, romanischen Wandziegelplatten aus Haselbach, Keramik des 15. Jh. von Otzlberg und einem hochmittelalterlichen Tonaquamanile aus Südböhmen gewidmet. Es folgen ein Teilnehmer- und Autorenverzeichnis.
The volume contains 24 papers presented at the second conference on archaeology in Eastern Bavaria, Western and Southern Bohemia at Tábor in 1992. The topic were the Middle Ages with an emphasis on settlements. At first, rescue excavations in Southern and Western Bohemia and Medieval and Early Modern archaeology in Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate were dealt with. Contributions on the urban settlements of Tábor, Sezimovo Ústí, Kynšperk nad Ohrí, Landshut, Amberg, Deggendorf, and Regensburg followed. Sections on residential sites analysed the castle of the Elector at Amberg, fortresses in Western and Southern Bohemia and a residential tower at Loifling. Ecclesiastical sites are represented by the church castle at Neukirchen and the Praemonstratensian monastery at Windberg. Rural settlements are the topic of papers on Vodnany and Pilsting. Other sections focus on survey work at the „Goldener Steig“ trade route, querns for crushing gold ore, Romanesque wall tiles from Haselbach, pottery of the 15th century from Otzlberg and a High Medieval pottery aquamanile from Southern Bohemia. Lists of participants and authors follow.
