Linguistic Units and Items II
von Göran Hammarström„Linguistic units and items 1“ and the present „Linguistic units and items 2“ contain the most detailed and systematic account of the basic units and items of linguistics published to the present day.
The account is limited to sentences and parts of sentences although it is clear that longer stretches such as paragraphs, utterances and texts are also important.
At the a-level (Linguistic Units and items (1) meta-, pseudo-, quasi-, semi- and vari-units seemed to be of interest. They have, however, not been dealt with in a systematic way at the b-, g- and s-levels (Linguistic units and items 2). Meta-units are self-evident and the other units seem to be of limited relevance at these levels.
