von Andrew T Still
The Osteolib-project Big projects always begin with big dreams, and one of these big dreams began in 2003 in Kirksville. Fascinated by the books from the founding years of osteopathy, I asked myself: how can one lay the foundations for an osteopathic-historical library? How can the mostly out-of-print works that such a library contains be made accessible again? And above all: how can students and scholars do fast, complete and convenient research in this library?
Purely profit-minded big publishing houses are not interested in such projects, and for a small publisher like JOLANDOS it is an almost unsolvable problem. But only almost, for where there's a will, there's a way! And as you can see: the dream has come true - and has a name: OsteoLib.
With the financial aid of the A. T. Still University, Kirksville, Mo. - the birthplace of osteopathy and the main sphere of action of its founder - and with the promise of the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine to place the originals at our disposal, the basic prerequisites for the project were given. But the good cooperation of all the people and institutions involved in the project in the US, Germany and Nepal was necessary to actually get the logistically complex production process of OsteoLib going. I think that the effort has been worth it for you, too. Why?
