Today’s construction sites have to fulfil difficult requirements. Besides low operational costs and high safety standards, they need to ensure processes that are more efficient. Thus, assistant systems and identification technologies are deployed more often with construction machinery and especially excavators.
Existing installations of assistant systems are not able to cope with all requirements. They lack cross vendor compatibility and flexibility between different usage scenarios. Research is addressing only distinct topics. A systematic overview about applications, functions and technological concepts is not yet existent.
This thesis‘ objective is to conceptually develop excavator assistant functionalities based on identification technologies. After the first functional analysis, promising technologies for their implementation are being evaluated and rated. The chance to transfer technologies from neighbouring application branches is being investigated. The deducted concepts for different functions propose the technological steps, which are necessary for their implementation.
The example of identifying excavator attachment tools using passive UHF-RFID technology is used for prototype implementation and evaluation
