From the once to the now
von Mirza Agha AsgariLooking at the past history of Iran, we find that whenever poetry, music and art were at their peak, society has lived in more peace and harmony. On the other hand, whenever peace, prosperity, and harmony prevailed, poetry, art, and ideas grew wider. Our social being, who we are, and what we are, is reflected in our poetry. Iranian religions, rituals, practices and ways of life are also reflected in the ancient poetry. To understand our past, we must research in their poetry. Among these are the rhythmic and rhymed teachings of Mitraism and Zarathustrism (in „Gathas“).
In this sensitive and philosophical work, Mani attempts to establish a relationship with ancient Iranian poetry and thinking. The last part of the book contains rewritings of three Zarathustra poems and the long poem „Aban-Yasht“ from the Zarathustrian book „Avesta“.
