This cut-out activity offers an attractive role-play packed with maths content in a child relevant context. Children can build a 3D home for their number friends while experiencing all major maths aspects in a nutshell: number 0 to 10 (20) quantity, numerals, order, ten frames, successor/predecessor, subitising, partitioning, shapes... The activity encourages role play but can also be used as a board game. It also encourages fine motor skills, concentration and endurance.
The idea: The numbers 0 to 10 would like to have a beautiful Number Town. The properties are already assigned, now it is up to the children to find the matching garden for each number, build a house, so the number can move in and plant a beautiful flower bed. Finally, a road is built starting at 0 and up to 20 (or 10). There is also some mischievous character messing around, but fortunately there is also someone to help... The activity includes an instruction with suggestions; more information on the concept and free ideas online numberland. net
This activity relates to the German, increasing internationally popular concept Let's visit Numberland. The handbook (also available on Amazon) explains the very easy to follow approach in detail and also contains stories and songs (CD).
