SYSTEMATIC DESIGN OF SOFT MACHINES
von Arthur SeibelIn this work, general design methodology for technical systems is introduced and explored in detail in the context of soft robotics. The methodology consists of several basic engineering concepts that are arranged in such a way to guide the design engineer step by step through the design process. The effectiveness of this methodology in creating new solutions in soft robotics is illustrated on the design of a soft climbing robot and a soft passive gripper, both inspired by the gecko.
