In einer großzügigen Schenkung an das Land Oberösterreich erhielt die OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH knapp 30 Metallplastiken der Künstlerin Waltrud Viehböck (1937–2014), die mehrere Jahrzehnte lang in Oberösterreich lebte und arbeitete und eine wesentliche Position in der jüngeren oberösterreichischen Kunstgeschichte einnimmt.
Waltrud Viehböcks umfangreiches Œuvre, vorrangig aus dem Werkstoff Metall gefertigt, umfasst neben Schmuck und Plastik auch zahlreiche Skulpturen für den öffentlichen Raum sowie Gestaltungen für den Sakralraum. Der Schwerpunkt der Ausstellung liegt auf der Präsentation von Objekten und Schmuck. Außerdem werden im Außenraum des Schlossmuseums mehrere großformatige Metallplastiken präsentiert.
Viehböck, eine der ersten Absolventinnen von Helmuth Gsöllpointners Metallklasse an der Linzer Kunstschule, entwickelte eine unverwechselbare Formensprache, die von geometrischen Grundformen geprägt ist. Die Besonderheit ihres künstlerischen Zugangs liegt einerseits im spielerisch-analytischen Umgang mit konstruktiven Formen und ihrer Wirkung im Raum, andererseits im sensiblen Ausloten der Ästhetik des Werkstoffs Metall.

In a generous donation to the Province of Upper Austria, OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH received almost 30 metal sculptures by the artist Waltrud Viehböck (1937–2014), who lived and worked in Upper Austria for several decades and occupies an important position in recent Upper Austrian art history.
Waltrud Viehböck’s extensive oeuvre, primarily made of metal, includes jewellery and sculpture as well as numerous sculptures for public spaces and designs for sacred spaces. The exhibition focuses on the presentation of objects and jewellery. In addition, several large-format metal sculptures are presented in the outdoor area of the Schlossmuseum.
Viehböck, one of the first graduates of Helmuth Gsöllpointner’s metal class at the Linz School of Art, developed an unmistakable formal language characterised by basic geometric forms. The special feature of her artistic approach lies on the one hand in the playful-analytical handling of constructive forms and their effect in space, and on the other hand in the sensitive sounding out of the aesthetics of metal as a material.
