Large-Scale Computing Techniques for Complex System Simulations
von Werner Dubitzky, Krzysztof Kurowski und Bernard SchottComplex systems modeling and simulation approaches are beingadopted in a growing number of sectors, including finance, economics, biology, astronomy, and many more. Technologiesranging from distributed computing to specialized hardware areexplored and developed to address the computational requirementsarising in complex systems simulations.
The aim of this book is to present a representative overview ofcontemporary large-scale computing technologies in the context ofcomplex systems simulations applications. The intention is toidentify new research directions in this field and to provide acommunications platform facilitating an exchange of concepts, ideasand needs between the scientists and technologist and complexsystem modelers. On the application side, the book focuses onmodeling and simulation of natural and man-made complexsystems. On the computing technology side, emphasis is placedon the distributed computing approaches, but supercomputing andother novel technologies are also considered.
