This book examines the current place of proving in elementary school and considers how to elevate its status to best benefit young learners. Case examples and samples of student work address the situation of proving in elementary education and show how an increased focus on this facet of mathematics would be beneficial for students and teachers. The concept of „proof“ and the corresponding activity of „proving“ have not yet been studied in the context of elementary school mathematics education. Currently, elementary students are deprived of opportunities to learn deeply in mathematics, leaving them underprepared for secondary level mathematics education.
