The book addresses various aspects of the stability of the differentiated state. It is meant to demonstrate the bearing of different lines  of thought and experimentate on on this central topic. 
The  authors  of  this volume  do deliberately not describe  historical  back-ground  and  experimental  detail  at  great  length,  but  proceed,  in  each  chapter, rapidly  to the  central issue.
