Did you know that:
- Dinosaurs are not extinct: descendants of the once most ferocious meat-eating dinosaurs still live among us humans today.
- Dinosaurs did not live at the same time and place: many dinosaurs never met each other, as they lived millions of years apart and on different continents.
- Dinosaurs did not live in the air or water: all dinosaurs were land animals, although some marine or flying reptiles have ‘saurus’ in their name.
- Dinosaurs were not always gigantic and scary: most giant dinosaurs were gentle plant-eaters, whereas some smaller dinosaurs only weighed two kilograms.
- Dinosaurs were not mammals: ‘dino-saur’ means ‘terrible-lizard’ and lizards belong to a group of reptiles. Other reptiles are snakes, turtles and crocodiles. All lay eggs.
