»One could be tempted to stylise Ludwig Meyer as a successful revolutioniser – Andreas Kollender overcomes this temptation. In fact in an excellent way. Stylistically and plot-wise superb.«

Mid-19th century in Germany: Psychiatrist Ludwig Meyer is planning to revolutionise the psychiatric system. In his mental institution no one shall be abused and locked away. He sells the straightjackets of the asylum on the towns market thus causing a lot of publicity and displeasing his critics. And then there is Fanny, his most important confidant. But Meyer forgoes his personal happiness because caring for his patients is his main concern. Focusing on them he doesn’t realise that his opponents band together to demolish his reputation.
