Person Ann Smiley

Ann has lived in the world of words since training as a secretary in 1962 and then getting a job on a Fleet Street newspaper. In the l960s she travelled to South Africa to work and subsequently lived in Ghana and Sierra Leone with her journalist husband until the mid-1970s. On their return to England they set up a freelance partnership as editorial and administrative consultants and Ann is still working as an editorial manager for various journals. Her outside interests mainly involve visits to the theatre and sport: she currently plays golf and croquet and, as she lives on the South Coast of England, enjoys swimming in the English Channel, but only when the weather gets warm.
