Elīna Brasliņa, geboren 1988 in Riga, ist eine preisgekrönte lettische Illustratorin und Übersetzerin, die bereits mehr als 30 Bücher veröffentlicht hat. Ihre verschiedenen exzentrischen Charaktere und ihre heitere Ironie erlangten schnell Popularität und Anerkennung. Ihr internationales Debüt feierte sie 2016 mit Illustrationen für Kate Wakelings Kindergedichtband »Moon Juice« (Emma Press, 2016). www.elinabraslina.com

Elīna Brasliņa (1988) is an award-winning illustrator from Latvia. She has illustrated almost thirty titles so far, most of them children's books and young adult novels by Latvian authors, including Luīze Pastore's popular “Art Detectives” series. Elīna's work has been nominated for local awards, and she has received the Zelta Ābele Award for Book Design four timed, and was awarded the Jānis Baltvilks Baltic Sea Region Award in 2017. She made her international debut illustrating Kate Wakeling's collection of poems, Moon Juice, published by The Emma Press (UK), and has since then worked with other publishers abroad. She created the illustrations for Lawrence Schimel’s poems “Bedtime, not playtime” and “Early one morning”, which have been published in 15 languages, with more forthcoming. Elīna is a production designer with the Latvian animation studio Atom Art, and was the artist in charge of the animated feature Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs. She is currently working on a new animated film, Born Happy. Elīna is also an artist, and takes part in exhibitions both in Latvia and abroad, and also teaches at the Art Academy of Latvia. In addition to her illustration, Elīna has translated a number of books into Latvian, and several Latvian books into English (and together with Lawrence Schimel, one picture book into Spanish).
