von Christine OttIt is remarkable how little research has addressed the specific ways that language contributes to creating notions of gender and gender roles. This study addresses the overall question of how gender concepts are conveyed linguistically, and extends the question to consider how specific gender concepts found their way into school textbooks in the first place.
