The author assumes that individuals and groups live in their own worlds. Since these worlds are dependent on theory, changes in theory should be a suitable tool to produce and resolve practical problems as well. Drawing on numerous examples (Ockham, Descartes, Spinoza, Locke), the author illustrates in what way theoretical changes are able to solve some problems yet create new one at the same time.
