Philipp Melanchthon (1497–1560) was one of the outstanding figures of church history and the history of theology during the Reformation. His universal humanism is of key importance for the history of education in Europe. There are very few people who have challenged posterity in the way he did. This volume presents studies written by leading Melanchthon experts on the works and the impact of the humanist and reformer on his contemporaries and on those born later.
